Pet and Separation Anxiety

Having a house pet is a very common practice that humans have been doing for so long already and it indeed makes us feel closer to those animals commonly being kept at home as pets. Dogs and cats are arguably the most popular pet to have because our ancestors have domesticated them for their benefits in the past. While it is more of an exchanging benefit to have them around, nowadays we are keeping pets mostly for the purpose of personal companionship.

Pets are amazing and those who have them will understand how they play an important role in our lives. It is difficult to let them go when their time is calling but we never regret the time we have spent together and hence, we always make sure they are living a happy life as long as possible. However, as adults we also need to leave them from time to time to work or to deal with various tasks and if we have been living alone then it means they are also alone during the period of time.

This can develop into separation anxiety and while we can always adopt another pet, it needs a lot of consideration to take responsibility for other animals. While both cats and dogs can experience separation anxiety, it seems the case is more often in dogs and the effects are also more severe as they can become destructive during the time such as urinating, defecating, howling, chewing your furniture and overall restlessness. It is not an uncommon issue but can be treated and if you are not sure yet, we can ask their vet for diagnosis.

If your dog shows a lot of stress when left at home from barking or excessive whining, having some house accident despite being trained well, chewing, digging, or scratching windows and droll or pant and salivate more than usual, these are the common signs of separation anxiety. If the problem is mild, we can use home treatment to overcome the issue or use over the counter natural solution to ease their anxiety. First solution is try giving your dog a special treat every time leaving the house.

Use a certain toy like puzzle type one stuffed with peanut butter and only give them this when leaving the house but make sure it needs them about 20 to 30 minutes to finish. Second is try making your greeting when leaving and arrive at home low-key while also ignoring them for a while after you arrive. To make sure they can still have your presence even while you are not at home, do leave some worn clothes with your smell around.

About Pawbo and Petcube

Another effort to try when your dog shows separation anxiety is by using a pet camera and while this is a fairly new method to stay close with your pet, they seem to make your pet feel connected to you while you are away. There are so many pet cameras nowadays that you can choose from and not only communicate with them, they also offer some useful features to improve the interaction between owners and their pets but, it also depends on the model and brands.

You can find so many options in the market from those brands we are already familiar with to those names we never heard of. We can choose freely based on your budget and what you want from the unit but when talking about pet cameras, Pawbo and Petcube are two amazing options to consider. We are sure pet owners are familiar with these brands already because they are hyped among owners due to their convenience and if you like technologically advanced products, these are very interesting devices to have as well.

Pawbo is probably the most popular among the two and it is not without a reason because this pet camera is not only amazing to give your pet some entertainment but also comes with interesting features that can ease their anxiety and overall make your presence at home despite being away. This pet camera is also very similar to Furbo that you can check in our Wopet Vs Furbo due to their complete features. Petcube on the other hand is actually not yet as familiar to our ears.

But, the product itself seems to have been around for quite some time and for this comparison, we are going with the newer model or the Bites 2 pet camera. This is also a good alternative to the Pawbo camera but price wise it is more expensive than the former while in terms of feature is about the same or even less.

Pawbo and Petcube Design

For this comparison, we are going to talk about Pawbo Life pet camera and Petcube Bites 2 model so other than these two the specification and features can be different. As you can see from the sample picture above, both of them are quite different on the external design because as Pawbo is curved, smooth, and rounder in terms of form factor, the latter is rectangle, upright on top of flat surface or can be installed on a wall to save space.

Allowing Pawbo and Petcube to be attached to a wall is brilliant because some of our pets can be very aggressive and they can knock over these cameras out of curiosity and considering the compact size, both cats and dogs will surely be able to do so. The unit itself is made from plastic and they seem durable enough if not treated harshly by your pet. On the front plate there is a camera and treat dispenser while the cable runs from the back of Pawbo and the side of Petcube.

Pawbo and Petcube Image Quality

Since Pawbo and Petcube are cameras in its essential form, the first thing you may want to know is probably their image quality. In this part these models are already quite different because Pawbo can only deliver a 720p image while the latter is already 1080p so you will see nicer footage from this camera as well. In daytime applications they look good however, but are not amazingly crisp or clear. If you want the better camera, the Pawbo Dog model has the higher capabilities but may be more expensive too.

in addition, the camera of these units are not swiveling so they will offer the same angle for you to view yet, similar to action camera, these are wide angle type hence you will see more of what’s present on the front of the camera yet, in comparison Petcube has 160 degree angle compared to Pawbo at 130 degree.

Pawbo and Petcube Treat Dispenser

The next part we want to talk about is their treat dispenser and this is a very important feature in a pet camera because of its entertaining and additional benefits. Both of these models have a small container that can be filled with treats but the capacity itself is not going to be so much. What’s different is Petcube has three different ducts to allow different treats size but we can only use one type at a time. This treat dispenser feature is commanded from your app so we can monitor the amount.

Pawbo and Petcube Laser Pointer

Another entertaining feature we want to talk about is the laser pointer but they are only available in Pawbo Life in the comparison because the other version with laser pointer for Petcube is called Play 2 so it is a bit of disappointment that they can’t put both interactive features in the same unit. The laser pointer is definitely fun to play and even if you have dogs, they love chasing them as well but everything will be much more fun when there are two or more to play together.

Pawbo and Petcube Audio

The last interactive feature we love from Pawbo and Petcube is their audio function and while it is unfortunate that your pets can see you like when doing video calls, they can still listen to our voice when we talk through the phone. This feature is nice since it can give a sense of presence even while you are being away and your pet can respond to your voice while you call them or give the cue which is going to be very fun when combined with the treat and laser pointer.

Pawbo vs Petcube

Both of them are a great device to have if your pets are often alone at home or want to provide them with some entertainment while you are away. The difference between Pawbo and Petcube in these specific models is that Pawbo offers more features especially with the laser pointer so it is more fun to play with but the image quality is better in Petcube. The rest of these models features are the same such as the treat dispenser and 2-way audio.
